A local 92 year old wheelchair-bound senior living alone and who’s son/caregiver was unexpectedly deported back to the U.S. because he was unable to renew his VISA at the time reached out to us to try and help…  An isolated senior going through physical challenges, including hospital visits and minimal community support called us in the hopes of becoming aware of more resources…  Another senior shared challenges about not having any transitional support from a serious hospital visit… Another couldn’t run his small business because of transportation permit laws being changed…

We don’t just publish stories, we hear about them first hand and sometimes while they’re happening. Many seniors turn to us with different challenges they face, and we always help where we can by giving exposure to important stories, finding helpful community resources for them and other ways, but we want to be able to do more.

So, we are setting aside a special fund called the MSM Senior’s Help Fund for seniors in need in Muskoka and surrounding areas, using donations from our community. Readers, subscribers, advertisers, website and social media visitors and anyone else, are all welcome to participate in this important endeavor.

Those who donate to the MSM Senior’s Help Fund have the opportunity to be listed on our upcoming designated “Thank you” website page for free (including businesses!), and ways that we help seniors in need will be posted on this page as well, to show you we are serious about taking action towards helping where we can – pending available funds to do so.

This fund will also include a service called Senior’s Community Match where we help match someone in need with other community resources as well, so they can get the full extent of support they need.

We are not a charity, but we want to help!

Our mission, as always, is to inform, inspire, support and include which stands in this endeavor as well. So, partner with us to help seniors in need, in support of a strong and compassionate community.
