Ways to Stay Connected With Your Grandkids

By Anna Patterson

Research indicates the importance of staying socially connected, in support of our health and well being. However, that doesn’t just involve company of the adult variety… The young can keep our bodies moving and our minds sharp.

9 year-old Anna Patterson provides us with a few tips – from a grandchild’s perspective – about ways to keep up and things you can do with your grandchild, as follows:

  • Read kid stories with them
  • Have what they like to eat
  • Play sitting down games (Checkers, Chess, Snakes and Ladders, Candyland, Tic-Tac-Toe, cards)
  • Bake with them (cakes, brownies, cookies, rugalach, cinnamon rolls, pies [of course!])
  • Roast marshmallows by the fire

Make it meaningful, fun and of course delicious!

Anna Patterson (in pic with grandparent’s Rev. Don and Ritsu Clark, Huntsville Fall Fair, 2010) says: “My favourite holiday is Christmas. My favourite food is chocolate and ice cream. But I will not eat anything with vanilla in it!”

    1. Hi, Thank you for your feedback. We’re happy to hear that you enjoy the magazine. It is bi-monthly, so it comes out every second month. And you can get a copy at all of the main public locations, such as libraries, pharmacies, recreation centres and more, depending on the town you’re in (i.e. Foodland stores, Huntsville Place Mall and more). If you have any problems getting a copy, let us know and we’ll be happy to help. Subscriptions are also available as an option, if you don’t want to miss a copy. Kind Regards, MSM
